Mostly overcast with a building SW wind.

Barn Owl.

The highlight came after sunset today when I spent 20 minutes watching a Barn Owl hunt near Birling Gap. Given their local scarcity I suspect this is the same bird glimpsed in the headlights whilst returning from The Tiger Inn in late January.

This morning was very windy (again!) with the highlight being my first Swallow which flicked westward over Birling Lane, other than that single figures of Firecrest and Chiffchaff were the only notables. A small arrival on the 29th saw the first Willow Warbler amongst a low number other common migrants. Seawatching has been generally disappointing, although I did see my first Arctic Skua of the year on the 28th.
