05.08.21 Last few days.

The weather fell under the influence of a decent ridge of high pressure from the 1st which contradicted the forecast somewhat but had broken down by the 5th with the arrival of a low pressure.

A decent arrival of Willow Warbler on the 2nd with 40+ seen between the radio mast and Shooters Bottom along with the first Garden Warbler. Only 4+ Sedge Warbler seen. Reed Warbler have been particularly numerous over the last few days, as have Common Whitethroat (always hard to determine if these are local birds or immigrants) Lesser Whitethroats appearing too with singles on the 2nd and 5th. The first Wheatear of the autumn with 4 on the 31st July (RE) and another, a scruffy juvenile, on the 1st. My first Grasshopper Warbler flushed from cover in Shooters on the 4th. Single figures of Sand Martin on two morning. Single Nightingales in Shooters and around Belle Tout. The juvenile Cuckoo lingered until at least the 26th July when a surprise Whinchat was also in Shooters.
