A serene but birdless morning on the headland with 3/4 distant Harbour Porpoise breaking the surface of a glassy sea the highlight. A quick check of West Rise Marsh late on gave cause for much joy! The first Sand Martin of the year. It’s become the regular venue for this annual event. It always seems to be in the same conditions too, overcast and a bit cold. I watched the small group of 3 hawk insects over the lake to the odd sound of displaying Tufted Duck.
