31.10.19 Last morning of east winds

A continuation of this weeks theme, overcast and a strong cold east wind. I concentrated on Birling Gap and the Belle Tout area.

Chiffchaff near the NT buildings.

Thinking of areas where there might be shelter is difficult although the bushes and buildings around Birling Gap seem as good as anywhere to focus on. Although there were similar totals to yesterday, I’m sure these birds are new with Goldcrest feeding out on the bare ground of the car park etc.

On the ground were c25 Goldcrest, at least 4 Firecrest, 4 Black Redstart, c6 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 1 Redwing, several small groups of late hirundine lingered around Birling Gap numbering 14 Swallow & 4 House Martin. Overhead 300+ Goldfinch, 20 Linnet, 1 Greenfinch, 5 Chaffinch & 4 Lapwing went east.
