7.7.19 Nightingale’s on the move.

Mostly overcast & cooler than recent days with a cold front accompanied by rain passing through at dawn. Wind light and from the east.

juv. Yellow legged Gull at Princes Park.

An early July visit from JP with the focus on finding juvenile Yellow legged Gulls, not even most birders idea of fun but an enjoyable must for larid nuts like ourselves. There was some success in the form of a single bird at Princes Park on the 6th and a flyover bird at Holywell on the 7th. A Whimbrel east over town was an unseasonal sight and sound although two Nightingale croaking and whistling in Shooters Bottom on the 7th were more in keeping with the time of year.
