1.7.19 First Yellow legged Gull this summer

Another fine day following on from a warm surge of air from the south two days ago.

The UK’s first reported Juvenile Yellow legged Gull.

So unlike other summers and on the first time of trying, I managed to bag what I believe is the first juvenile Yellow legged Gull to be reported in the country this year. I suspect it had been stuffed with bread prior to my arrival as it had no interest in joining the Herring Gulls in the melee for food nor did fly once. Always interested to speculate where these early birds come from, perhaps somewhere more to the south than south east. I might be wrong but I think it equals previous county firsts for arrival date.
