Spring Firecrests 7.3.19

Prolonged bright spells, gale force SW winds, with the current weather situation locked into a jet stream dominated tedium!

Firecrest in Belle Tout Wood.

One thing you can be sure of on Beachy Head in early March is the appearance of Firecrests. Often arrivals coincide with both Black Redstart and Chiffchaff although no sigh of the former as yet. This single bird follows on from my first of the year in Shooters on 4th. There also appeared to be an arrival of Stonechat on that date with 9 birds seen between Birling and the pub. Mostly males some of which showing some rubicola features, a regular sight on Beachy Head.
