20.2.19 Hunting for Lesser spotted Woodpecker.

With the fine weather continuing (and Beachy providing little of interest on land beyond a party of 4 transient Long tailed Tit on the 15th) I spent sometime trying to see Lesser spotted Woodpeckers in the Pett area, a 40 minute drive from home. A lovely mixed woodland which did hold a few pairs of Marsh Tit, good numbers of Treecreeper, a few Great spotted Woodpeckers, fly over Redpoll and a single Chiffchaff. Unfortunately no Lesser spotted Woodpeckers though, perhaps a little chilly for drumming this morning, being only 9C. A notable absence of Nuthatch.
