17th July 2017 Willow Warblers

Return of the Willow Warblers. My first of the season.

The wind had switched into a brisk ENE direction by morning. There was a little overhead movement during my time up on the headland with 21 Swift, 20 Sand Martin, c40 Swallow and 2 Great spotted Woodpeckers all tracking east into the wind. Although there are a number of breeding Swallow at both Hodcombe and Cornish Farm there were definitely some other birds moving this morning. I saw very little in the bushes, a strong wind always makes the bushes hard going. I did however encounter my first Willow Warblers of the season, following on from John’s first on Saturday. Two were in the Old trapping area bushes.
