13th July 2016 Yellow-legged Gull no.3

Kris Gillam discovered this, the third michahellis, around midday today at Princes Park. I could’t resist a quick paparazzi style visit.  The small boating lake is proving productive as the national arrival continues. There are clearly a few features that mark this out as a different bird from the previous two.


A nice shot showing off the limited pale inner webs on the inner primary feathers.

All three have had very obvious loner personalties, often opting to sit some distance from the main flock of Gulls


Characteristic longish legs, especially above the knee.


Showing off the classic dulux white upper tail and neat, almost black, terminal band with a few fractured bars above.
