5th April 2016 – Redstart & Ring Ouzel

A clear night, turning murky with the wind switching from east to west by dawn. This change in the weather dropped a few migrants on to the headland. A duo of spring firsts came in the shape of a smart male Ring Ouzel & a Redstart (RE). It really felt like spring this morning with the silver song of Willow Warblers in the background. I think the sound Willow Warblers singing in early spring is one of my favourites. I stood there for a bit with my eyes closed listening, having just come through a 7 day flu, feeling like I had been reborn!

There were also 8 Willow Warbler, 2 Firecrest, a couple of Swallows flew west and 4 Chiffchaff seen along with 2 Blackcap. A Red Kite went west over the flat in the afternoon.
