“Continental” Stonechat

This striking male Stonechat is on territory in Shooters Bottom. I’m not sure if they include mimicry in their song but I swear I can hear Woodlark and Swallow alarm calls in this birds repertoire.

I know this variant occurs along the south coast and clearly Stonechats are migratory here at Beachy Head. I wonder whether these birds are within range intergrades. As opposed to out of range continental birds. Although it is very striking in flight, it’s slightly less so than individuals I saw in Mallorca last week. Beachy Head hosts very normal British looking birds as well as 1 or 2 of these continental types.
