27th March 2016 – Easter Migrants

At least 4/5 Firecrest could be found feeding low amongst the ivy in Belle Tout wood this morning, along with a single Chiffchaff. Having been away in Majorca, cycling for the last 7 days, these are the first migrants I’ve seen on Beachy Head for a good week or so. Great to watch these little harbingers of spring, busily flitting about the bare branches. A quick trip to Arlington reservoir to look for hirundines came good with a Barn Swallow making a quick, dashing appearance, whilst the Red-throated Diver was still present.

Below, heading up Puig Major last week in Mallorca. A mountain¬†famous for Black Vulture… and if you’re a cyclists, one of the biggest climbs on the island!
