20th October 2014 – Yellow-browed Warbler

Yellow-browed Warbler, Belle Tout wood.

Bright spells, still at first with a strengthening SW wind. My first day out after a very quiet fortnight on St Agnes, Isles of Scilly. Highlights at Shooters Bottom were a minimum of 12 Ring Ouzel plus a single Dartford Warbler at the end of the main path towards the cliff edge. Over head passage was good with 500 Stock Dove, 300 Wood Pigeon, 100 Goldfinch, 8 Swallow, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Brambling and 1 Reed Bunting all west and 20 Skylark south east. Belle Tout Wood held 8 Goldcrest, 2 Blackcap, 4 Chiffchaff and a single Yellow-browed Warbler, some obs reported 2 present.

Stock Dove migrating.
